ABOUT
Sundown Cottages are situated in Achmore village, in the heartland of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The two cottages - Sundown and Taigh Chalum - have stunning views from every window – looking towards mountains, lochs, moorland and sea. Just 15 minutes’ drive (8.1 miles) from Stornoway, this seemingly remote location is surprisingly central and perfectly placed for exploring the Isles of Lewis and Harris.
Located side-by-side, each cottage boasts a wood-burning stove in a cosy seating area, a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area, free Wi-Fi and TV, comfortable bedrooms with en-suite facilities and toiletries available. There is ample private parking. This is the perfect island retreat for everyone from couples and business travellers to families with kids and furry friends (pets).
From here, you can visit the Callanish Stones and the vast Atlantic coast with its white beaches; take trips to Uig, Bernera, Harris and Ness; arrange to sail to St Kilda; enjoy Lews Castle and Museum in Stornoway; discover the wildlife - including the mighty eagle; discover the food and drink - including Isle of Harris gin; take a stroll along the Pentland Road behind the cottages to explore the shielings and fabulous moorland; watch a spectacular Isle of Lewis sunset and - in winter - you may even be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights from Sundown Cottages!
